Kemenangan ini membuat Mazda 787B menjadi satu-satunya pabrikan Jepang yang berhasil juara di ajang balap Le Mans. Mobil ini dibekali mesin 4 rotor \u2018Wankle-engine\u2019 13J 2.600 cc dengan tenaga 600 HP.
